No orbital ring around Venus. Mass transport runs on conventional freight.

## Industrial stack

**Beam-fed hyperscale.** 1–50 Mt cloudcraft on Dyson swarm beam delivery (1–25 GW per platform). ATP-based chemistry decoupled from photosynthesis. SMA grant required. Institutional capital. Produces Grade I bulk matrix + Grades IV–VI specialty. **The industrial spine of the era's Venus industry.**

**Conventional photosynthetic.** From a few tonnes to ~1 Mt. AutoSlime franchise tier. Ambient sunlight + sucrose/battery buffer. No beam grant. nirmāṇa-class ownership viable. Bulk Grade I, occasional Grade II. **The resilience layer.**

**Mutually exclusive at the platform level.** Hyperscale can't retrench to conventional without abandoning beam-fed capital. Conventional can't scale to hyperscale without the beam grant it can't get without already being hyperscale.

## Operating constraints

- **Acid pervasive.** Every external surface acid-exposed. Material selection constrained by long-term acid resistance.
- **Shear-coupled lift.** No platform at industrial mass class is buoyancy-supported. Lift generated against vertical wind shear. Non-negotiable engineering.
- **Three coupled licenses.** Column lease + beam grant + operator authentication. Loss of any one ends the operation.
- **Acid-tolerant biology.** Engineered acidophilic strains for Grade I; sulfur-redox archaea variants for Grade III; wall-less organelle complexes for Grades IV–VI.

## Political status

Preserved **inertially**, not formally ratified. Terraforming debate is the live political question (see `terraforming-debate.md`). SMA position is structurally Pragmatist: no formal commitment either way. Industry has been allowed to grow continuously for centuries; deferral pattern reliable enough to plan against.

The natural drawdown (slime synthesis removes CO₂, rejects O₂) is happening at modest rate. At current production, halving the atmosphere takes ~150,000 years. Whether to accelerate is the central strategic question facing the SMA and operators.

## Vocabulary

**Schleimfarm** (pl. Schleimfarmen) — colloquial German-derived term for any Venusian slime platform, AutoSlime through flagship. Stuck for reasons nobody agrees on. Did not displace by *cloudfarm*, *biopolymer platform*, or *atmospheric biopolymer cultivation installation*.
