# Construction Phase — Post-Scarcity Adjacency

> Not post-scarcity. The *interval between* solving energy and solving everything else.

## What it is

The civilization is in the **construction phase** of post-scarcity — the period during which energy is structurally solved but throughput is not.

Energy abundance arrived first. The Dyson swarm at current build state produces more power than any near-term demand can absorb. **In principle, the civilization can power anything. In practice, it cannot build everything at once.**

The constraint is throughput — the rate at which energy can be converted into structure, in the right place, at the right time. Fab queues, relay bandwidth, megastructure scheduling, logistics priority, network access. **Position in the queue is scarce.**

The same habitat that draws power as if it costs nothing has been waiting six years for a structural expansion the fab queue has not yet reached, and the temporary partitions installed in the meantime have themselves been there for three years.

## Built form registers this

The queue is the civilization's most important architectural feature and its least visible one. **You cannot see the queue. You can see everything it produces and everything it delays.**

The gap is visible in every temporary partition, every improvised workspace, every structure clearly waiting for something. The throughput constraint expressed physically.

## Why the edge economy exists

The construction phase is the structural reason the edge economy — **nirmāṇa**, Venusian slime farms, independent freighters, frontier operators — exists.

The queue is optimized for volume and predictability. **It is bad at small, immediate, and irregular demands.** The edge fills those gaps.
